How to Get Yourself in the Mindset for Mindfulness

If you find yourself feeling super stressed from work or you spend much of your time worrying about things, you might benefit from mindfulness practice.

Mindfulness is the ability to be present and aware of what we are doing in the moment. Anybody can practice mindfulness. Here are some top tips on how you can get started.

Firstly, set aside a small portion of your day to practice. Set out a yoga mat and find a quiet place in your home.

Sit down comfortably on the mat and take special note of where all of your limbs are. Note the sounds that you can hear and the things that you can smell.

You might find that negative or stressful thoughts come into your head as you sit there. Accept these thoughts and allow them to come and go naturally.

Mindfulness is not about suppressing your negative thoughts. Instead, it’s more about recognizing the thoughts without allowing them to take over your mind and mood.

To get yourself in the mindset for mindfulness, you need to show up for yourself. Find a regular meditative routine that works best for you. Stay committed and practice self-discipline. You don't have to sit and meditate for a full hour if you don't wish to. All it takes is 5-10 minutes of focus and attention.

The more you practice mindfulness, the better you will become at it, and the more you will start to see the incredible benefits that it brings to your mental well-being.
