How To Recover From a Sleepless Night

You can’t always guarantee that you’re going to get a great night’s sleep all the time. Whether we’re too hot, too cold, or feeling stressed, there are lots of reasons why we might struggle to get to sleep or get back to sleep if we wake up in the middle of the night.

Having just one sleepless night can disrupt your daily functioning. But luckily, the fatigue that you feel after a night of poor sleep only lasts a day or two. However, the results might be different if you chronically lack adequate sleep.

If you accumulate a lack of sleep over several days, you end up in what’s known as a sleep debt.  Often, when you’re in a sleep debt, it can cause you to become more stressed. You’re worried about the fact that you’ve lost vital sleep and this can make it even more difficult for you to drift off each night.

To repay sleep debt you can take 20 minute power naps in the early afternoon, go to bed a little earlier and sleep in (a little bit!) on the weekend.
